Kenyan driving school, Rocky Driving School, has sparked wild reactions online after allegations of frustrating and mistreating students with disabilities.
In a complaint posted on popular Facebook group Buyer Beware-Kenya, one of its alleged students detailed how they have been going through a difficult time at the hands of a trainer at the school.
According to the complainant, the institution is the only one equipped with a customized training car to suit persons with disabilities such as those using wheelchairs.
The student detailed how she has been going through hell at the institution using so much of her resources to avail herself at the training centres but receives no help.
“Apparently Rocky driving school being a big school has only one modified training car in the whole of Nairobi. So us pwds especially wheelchair users are having a hard, cz you can get an uber to go for classes only for the trainer to tell you that today he’s not around. This is hard for us considering how times are tough,” she stated in her complaint.
The post sparked reactions with several other netizens raising complaints about the same institutions, as well as other driving schools.
A majority complained of being exploited by trainers who demand extra money from the students despite them having paid the required fees.
They claimed that for a student to be properly trained at Rocky or even other driving schools, they have to give bribes and tips to instructors.
