A couple is currently being held at Mbita police station in connection to the death of their 26-year-old daughter.
The duo who hail from Sigulu village within Suba North Sub County were arrested early Tuesday morning over allegations of murdering their daughter last night.
The deceased identified as Evelyne Akoth Otieno is reported to have been ailing from an unknown illness and had been under the care of her parents.
Akoth had deep cuts on her neck indicating that she had been lacerated using a sharp object.
According to police reports, the deceased’s father stated that he heard commotions within the house last night but was not very bothered by it at the time, when he woke up, however, he discovered his daughter lying in a pool of blood in the sitting room where she had been sleeping.
Confirming the incident, Mbita Sub County DCI commander Philip Sang explained that the couple had cleaned up the bloodstains from the floor where the deceased had been lying at the time of her death before they reported the matter to Ogongo police post.
Sang further explained that their preliminary investigations revealed that the house was intact and no one had broken through their steel door leading them to suspect the incident was an inside job.
“The suspects are currently being held at Mbita police station for further questioning in relation to the incident,” stated Sang.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kirindo mortuary.
