Kirinyaga County Gubernatorial Aspirant Wangui Ngirici has vowed to rejuvenate the collapsed health care in the area once elected to office come August 9.
Ngirici said it was pitiful that the current county administration was only concerned about retaining its status quo while the health care system had collapsed completely.
“Which hospital can operate without Oxygen, a functioning Radiographic section and a stocked Pharmacy? “she posed.
She also took a swipe at the same county administration for allegedly failing to pay its staffers for the last two consecutive months yet there was a budgetary provision for the purpose.
Posed Ngirici” how does the county administration led by governor Anne Waiguru expect its employees to render services without their two months salaries yet they have like any other Kenyans have financial obligations?”.
Ngirici also questioned the rationale of the much hyped-up ultra-modern hospital complex at the Kerugoya referral hospital whose construction cost she claimed was over exaggerated.
“There are such facilities at Makueni, Tharaka-Nithi and Laikipia constructed at a cost of about 500 million and are similar to the Kerugoya one built at a Sh 1.5 billion and without any equipment.
As Kenyan tax payers we are demanding for a forensic audit of this project, “she said.
Speaking at Kianyambo, today Ngirici promised to ensure the locals received the best health care once she got elected the third governor.
She also promised to foresee there was equitable disbursement of the bursary Fund to the needy children and promptly.
Ngirici who is using a modern chopper to comb the county while seeking votes said provision of clean water to all the homesteads was also part of her campaign manifesto.
“Our county is well endowed with many rivers which flow from Mt Kenya downstream to Mwea, through gravity yet our people are like those who live along the banks of the river Niger and wash with spittle. This will promptly come to an end once I assume office,” she vowed.
Ngirici is the outgoing area Woman Representative and both Waiguru and herself are first-time elected leaders.
