Students wishing to change their Form one placements in the recently launched secondary school selection results have been asked to make formal requests at their schools of choice.
Kiambu County Director of Education, Victoria Mulili told the press today that the students expected to join form one next month should apply early to get a slot in the institutions they prefer.
“The students will be considered in those schools after the learners who have been selected have been accommodated by the reporting date,” the County Director of Education confirmed.
Mulili argued that it was essential to make provisions for those wishing to change their placements, saying that many parents and children have valid reasons.
“In some cases, learners are placed in schools that are very far from where they are settled which may make it inconvenient for both the children and the parents or guardians,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Mulili assured the 43,000 pupils that sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in Kiambu that they would all get slots in secondary schools to advance their education.
Her remarks come a day after the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha assured the country that the government is committed to ensuring a 100% transition rate from Primary to Secondary school.
“I stand before you to speak about a story of hope and progress. The beautiful story is that all our 1,225,502 KCPE 2021 candidates whose results we released just two weeks ago have found places in our 9,200 public schools,” Magoha said at the launch of the Form One selection results.
This follows a directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta that all children who have sat for the KCPE exams be allowed to proceed with their education regardless of the marks they get.
Magoha also confirmed that the learners joining form one this year form the fifth cohort of students going to the next level of education at a 100% transition rate.
