Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga has assured aspirants seeking election under the coalition that he will back them to the finish line.
Raila, who spoke in Nyandarua County’s Ol Jororok town, when he met aspirants and nomination ‘losers’ to forge the way forward, noted that the coalition secretariat would ensure the aspirants were well armed for the August 2022 elections.
The aspirants, most of whom are seeking election on Jubilee party ticket, had decried lack of confidence to sell the coalitions flag bearer in the once ODM party no-go-zone.
“You are my foot soldiers and your win is mine, if you fail, I have failed. That is why I want you to go out there and confidently use my photo on your campaign posters knowing that I have got your back,” said Raila.
The presidential candidate noted that the remaining 94 days were crucial for their win, calling on them to confidently face their opponents.
Raila called on former Water CS Cisily Kariuki of a ‘reserved position’ once the coalition clinges power, urging her supporters to back Governor Francis Kimemia for reelection.
Raila noted that the negotiations spearheaded by president Uhuru Kenyatta was meant to forge a common front and a peaceful coexistence among the leaders beyond elections.
Governor Francis Kimemia took the opportunity to lobby for more opportunities in the coalition, noting that those who dropped their bids, in favour of their opponents would be accorded first priority.
Also at the event, Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya called on the coalition leader to consider Nyandarua leaders and residents in appointments of board members to agriculturally based boards and commissions.
