Nairobi businessman Mark Mbogo Okul was last week arraigned in a city court and charged with stealing 700 jerrycans each 20-litre Rina cooking oil.
According to the charge sheet, he was accused of committing the offense on December 20, 2021.
The prosecution told Court that the oil was initially worth Ksh 3,192,000 and that he was to resell it at a profit and give the owner Ksh 5,516,000.
According to court documents, the oil belonged to Daniel Ngumbau Muia and had been stored at the NCPB depot in the Industrial area at the time of the offense.
The suspect was apprehended last week and immediately presented before court where he faced 6 charges including forgery.
Appearing before Hon Oganyo Chief Magistrate City Court 1, Mbogo pleaded not guilty and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 1 million and a surety of Ksh 2 million.
The case will be mentioned on September 9, 2022.
