KNCCI President Richard Ngatia Congratulates Kenyan Students for Winning Sh120M in USA

Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry Richard Ngatia has Congratulated agroup of Kenyan University students from St Paul’s University dubbed Eco-Bana Limited for Winning the global finals of the 2022 Hult prize held in New York on Tuesday.

The group of four students was awarded one million dollars(Sh 120M) for the innovation.

Ngatia had met the group in his office last week on Thursday,to flag them off to New York.

“As a chamber we support this group’s innovation activities they are undertaking, we are proud of them and as anation,”Ngatia said.

Eco-Bana is a kenyan youth led social enterprise run by 5 students. It’s focus is on youth entrepreneurs based in several Counties in Kenya to produce biodegradable, eco-friendly and hygienic sanitary towels made from banana fibers with the knowledge of Design Thinking and a concept of Green and Circular Economy.

“Special thanks to Mr Richard Ngatia,president of KNCCI for showing alot of dedication on this project, advising us where necessary and showing lots of support on what’s best for the project.”

President William Ruto has also congratulated the team for exemplary innovative work,which he said was atrue reflection and hustler spirit that his Government will support.
