Massive corruption allegations have rocked the Betting Control and Licensing Board with sports betting companies now demanding for the sacking of CEO Peter Mbugi over alleged graft, blackmail and unethical behaviour.

The leading betting companies are also accusing the CEO of frequent blackmail over suspension of their licenses which they say is done in an unprofessional way since those who pay bribes are always spared by the board.

The arrogant and corrupt Mbugi has also been on the spot for sponsoring Azimio coalition meetings.”He is in charge of giving us allowances as he is our great supporter though he holds brief for former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho,” said one of the Azimio MPs.

Recently Mbugi was spotted at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka command center in Karen during a Kamukunji meeting to plan for Azimio’s nation-wide rallies to protest against President William Ruto’s government.

According to one of the MPs from Wiper Party who sought anonymity, Mbugi had been sent by Kibicho who is his childhood friend to deliver a “message” to Kalonzo.

“This man asks for bribes or suspension of betting firm licenses without fear,” revealed one of the betting firms’ official who would not wish to be quoted for fear of reprisal.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials have already started probing how Mbugi acquired huge wealth over a very short period of time. They are investigating him together with some of the sports betting companies.

Mbugi was recently heard boasting of how he is getting protection from a senior State House communications official. However, sports betting firms now say it’s time for the big man to step aside and leave the companies to operate in a business friendly environment.

The Betting Control and Licensing Board staff have also complained of his high handedness and ineptitude.
