One of Kenya’s leading banks, Co-operative Bank, has once again found itself surrounded by controversy after a Kenyan accused it of disappearing with Ksh1.5 million.
In an expose published by Twitter bigwig @Believe_Kinuthia, in 2005, the bank removed Ksh1.5M illegally from the late Nganga Gachanja’ s account. Years later, his daughter wrote to Coop Bank demanding to know the whereabouts of the funds.

According to the expose, the bank responded that they released the funds to a Public Trustee back in 2005 and that they gave no transactional evidence to prove that. They advised her to follow up with the office of Public Trustees.
After thorough scrutiny of the documents from the date the bank said they sent the money to the Public Trustee, no such record was found which could only mean that bank didn’t send the 1.5M funds to the public trustee as alleged.

The information was first made published by a Ms Gachanja who claimed to be the daughter of the deceased customer.
